Keep a quality level
Choose a bitrate or preset when you want a consistent encoding setting and can accept whatever file size it creates.
Compress audio files online for free and reduce audio file size for email, upload limits, messaging, or smaller listening copies. Set a target size in MB, reduce the file by percentage, or choose a bitrate directly in your browser.
Set a target in MB Batch up to 10 files Processed in your browser Original stays unchanged
Fit the destination, not a random preset
Email, course portals, forms, and messaging apps often care about one thing: the final file must be below a specific size. Enter that limit directly instead of guessing a bitrate.
The same compressor supports three different goals. Start with the result you need.
Choose a bitrate or preset when you want a consistent encoding setting and can accept whatever file size it creates.
Useful for a mixed batch. Each output aims to be smaller relative to its own original file.
Enter the cap shown by the destination. AudioMuse verifies each completed output instead of promising an estimate.
Best for upload limitsDifferent destinations create different file-size limits. Compress recordings, podcasts, and music files for sending, uploading, or sharing without guessing the right settings.
A recording is too large to attach or send. Enter a target below the stated limit, then download a smaller copy without cutting the conversation short.
A submission page rejects large files. Choose an accepted output format, leave a little room below its maximum, and verify the final size before uploading.
Create smaller music files, podcast episodes, demos, or review copies when you do not need to send the production master. Use the online music compressor to reduce file size or batch compress up to 10 recordings for easier sharing.
Upload, choose the result you need, and check the real output before you download it.
Add a single recording or up to 10 files. Each file can be up to 100 MB, with 300 MB total per batch.
Select MP3, M4A, AAC, OGG, or Opus, then set a bitrate, reduction percentage, or target MB.
Review the actual output size. Preview Single File results, or download batch files separately or in a ZIP.
This parent compressor handles many sources. Use a focused guide when the source format is the main part of your task.
Reduce songs, podcast episodes, and spoken recordings while keeping MP3 as the familiar sharing format.
Compress MP3WAVCreate a compact listening copy from a larger WAV source while keeping the original for editing or archiving.
Compress WAVM4AMake Voice Memos, lectures, and interviews easier to upload or share from the browser.
Compress M4AExport as MP3, M4A, AAC, OGG, or Opus. MP4 inputs produce audio-only output.
An honest size–quality trade-off
Compression cannot recreate detail that was already lost, and a higher output bitrate does not improve a low-bitrate source. Keep the original for editing, then create a smaller copy for the destination.
Already compressed? A new file can be the same size—or larger—if you select a higher bitrate than the source.
Very low bitrate? Outputs below 64 kbps are encoded as mono to use limited data more effectively.
The browser handles the work locally. You can create a sharing copy without turning your source file into an account asset.
Your selected audio is decoded and encoded on this device. Keep the tab open while the processing engine runs.
Open the compressor, choose your file, and start. You do not need to create an account for the free workflow.
Compression creates a new downloadable copy. Keep the source file when you may need to edit or export it again.
Learn how to compress audio files online, reduce audio file size for uploads and sharing, hit a target size in MB, batch compress files, and balance smaller files with sound quality.
Upload your audio, choose an output format, then reduce the file by bitrate, percentage, or target size in MB. AudioMuse compresses the file directly in your browser, shows the actual output size, and creates a new downloadable copy without changing your original.
The best method depends on your goal. Lower the bitrate when you want more control over encoding quality, reduce by percentage when you simply need a smaller copy, or enter a target size when the file must stay below a specific upload or attachment limit.
Choose Target Size and enter the maximum size you need, such as 5 MB, 10 MB, or 16 MB. AudioMuse estimates the required bitrate, encodes the file, and checks the actual result so you can see whether the target was met.
Yes. Use Target Size when an email service, messaging app, course portal, or upload form has a file-size limit. Enter a value below the stated cap to create a smaller audio file that is easier to send or upload.
Yes. Batch Compress supports up to 10 files, with a maximum of 100 MB per file and 300 MB total per batch. Each file is compressed separately using the settings you choose, and completed results can be downloaded individually or together in a ZIP.
Yes. AudioMuse can be used as an online music compressor when you need smaller songs, demos, review copies, or other music files for sharing and uploading. Choose a bitrate, reduction percentage, or target file size based on how small the listening copy needs to be.
Reducing file size usually involves a trade-off. AudioMuse exports compressed listening copies in lossy formats, so lower bitrates create smaller files but remove more audio data. Use a higher bitrate when sound quality matters more, preview the result when available, and keep your original file for editing or archiving.
The source may already use a lower bitrate or more efficient encoding than the settings you selected. Re-encoding it at a higher bitrate can create a larger file without restoring lost detail. Try a lower bitrate, percentage reduction, or target size instead.
AudioMuse can import MP3, WAV, M4A, FLAC, AAC, OGG, Opus, AIFF, WMA, AMR, M4B, AIF, AIFC, and MP4 files with audio. Compressed copies can be exported as MP3, M4A, AAC, OGG, or Opus.
No. A target such as 10 MB applies to each output file individually, not to the combined batch. AudioMuse calculates and verifies each compressed file separately.
This AudioMuse tool is an audio file size compressor. It reduces file size for sharing, uploading, or storage by changing encoding settings such as bitrate. A dynamic range compressor does something different: it changes the relationship between loud and quiet parts of a recording using controls such as threshold, ratio, attack, and release.
No. Audio processing runs locally in your browser. Keep the tab open while compression is running. Your original file remains unchanged, and you do not need an account to use the free compression workflow.
Upload your audio, choose the limit that matters, and check the actual result in your browser.
