Make the video louder without ignoring clipping

Increasing gain moves every sound closer to the digital ceiling. Peak protection reduces the final mix when needed, but it cannot recreate missing detail or repair distortion already present in the recording.

The microphone was too far away

A family clip, vlog or outdoor recording looks right, but the voices are difficult to hear at normal playback volume.

Video volume booster FAQs

Answers about MP4 volume, selected sections, clipping, privacy, formats and export.

How do I increase video volume online?

Upload a supported video above. Its original soundtrack opens selected in the video editor. Raise Volume above 100%, preview the result with the picture, then export and download MP4.

Can I make only one section of a video louder?

Yes. Place the playhead at the beginning and end of the quiet passage and split the Original Audio clip at both points. Select the middle clip and raise its volume while leaving the other clips at 100%.

Can I increase the volume of an MP4 video?

Yes. MP4 is supported alongside MOV, M4V, WebM and MKV. The finished video downloads as MP4 with stereo AAC audio.

How much can I boost the volume?

The Volume control runs from 0% to 200%. Start around 150%, preview the loudest passage and use only as much gain as the recording needs.

Why does my video still sound quiet at 200%?

A few loud peaks can use the available headroom even when most of the recording sounds quiet. Peak protection keeps those peaks below the digital ceiling, so the final audible increase depends on the source.

Will increasing video volume cause distortion?

Peak protection reduces the final mix when necessary to prevent new hard clipping. It cannot repair clipping or distortion already recorded in the source, and increasing gain can also make existing background noise louder.

Will the picture quality change?

Compatible H.264 video streams are copied without re-encoding. Other readable video codecs are converted to H.264, which can take longer and may affect picture quality. The video duration stays unchanged.

Can I decrease or mute the video sound?

Yes. Move Volume below 100% to make a selected clip quieter, set it to 0% to silence it or use Remove Audio from Video when you want to remove the soundtrack entirely.

Are my video files uploaded?

No. The video, audio edits and export are processed locally in your browser rather than uploaded to an AudioMuse processing server.

Can I increase video volume on a phone?

Yes, for compatible short files. Video processing requires device memory, so a desktop browser is more reliable for larger files or projects with several edits.

Which formats and file sizes are supported?

Upload one MP4, MOV, M4V, WebM or MKV file up to 100 MB and 10 minutes. Codec support depends on the browser and the media contained inside the file.

What happens to subtitles or additional audio tracks?

The current workflow uses the first readable original audio track. Additional source audio streams and subtitle tracks are not carried into the MP4 export.
