Keep the original sound. Add what’s missing.
Original voices and ambience remain visible on their own track. Add music, narration or effects beside them so every sound can be timed and balanced before export.
- Keep, lower or mute the original soundtrack.
- Move every added clip to the right moment.
- Preview picture and all audio layers together.
Add the sound your video needs
Choose a focused workflow for music, narration or several audio layers. All three open the same timeline after you upload a video.
Put music under the video without losing the voices
Keep the original soundtrack as the anchor, then add your own song on a separate track and make space for speech.
- 1Choose the useful passage
Trim away a long intro and keep the part that fits the scene.
- 2Place it on the timeline
Move the music to the exact moment where it should begin.
- 3Balance and fade
Lower the music beneath speech and soften the entrance or ending.
Match a clear explanation to what viewers see
Upload an existing recording or record with your microphone, then place each take beside the moment it explains.
- 1Record or upload
Bring in a narration file or create a take in the editor.
- 2Split and position
Break a long take into movable clips and align each one to the picture.
- 3Keep the mix clear
Adjust narration, original sound and music independently.
Keep music, voice and effects separately adjustable
Build a soundtrack without flattening everything too early. Sounds can overlap on separate tracks or play one after another on the same track.
- 1Add each sound
Use separate tracks for sounds that need to overlap.
- 2Set every start time
Move clips until entries match the scene or spoken line.
- 3Preview the complete mix
Listen with the video before downloading one finished MP4.
Make every sound start at the right moment
The video duration stays unchanged. Select the part of a song you need, move it to the right scene and decide how it enters and ends.
- Choose the passage
- Trim a long intro or unused ending.
- Set the start time
- Move the clip until it matches the picture.
- Balance the mix
- Set original sound, music and narration independently.
- Finish smoothly
- Add fade-in and fade-out to the selected clip.
What are you adding to your video?
Start from the sound problem in the footage, then use the smallest workflow that gets it ready to share.
Add explanation after the screen recording is finished
- The problem
- A silent walkthrough leaves viewers guessing, but re-recording the screen just to fix one sentence wastes time.
- The result
- Add narration in shorter takes, move each one beside the action and retain useful clicks or system sound underneath.
- 1Keep the useful screen audio
- 2Record or upload the explanation
- 3Align each take to the action
Make the product clear before adding atmosphere
- The problem
- Background music can give a demo energy, but it should never compete with the spoken value or important product sounds.
- The result
- Use narration as the lead track, keep music lower and place effects only where they clarify an interaction.
- 1Place the main explanation
- 2Add quiet supporting music
- 3Check every spoken section
Turn separate moments into one video that feels intentional
- The problem
- Travel, birthday and family clips often have uneven sound or long sections where the original audio adds little.
- The result
- Use a meaningful part of your own song, preserve important voices and let the music end naturally with the picture.
- 1Keep voices worth hearing
- 2Choose the right song passage
- 3Fade at the final frame

Add audio to video FAQs
Answers about original sound, music, voiceover, MP3 and MP4, timing, privacy and export.
Can I keep the original audio when I add music?
Yes. Leave Original Audio in place and add music on a separate track. Lower the music until the voices are easy to hear, then preview both together. Volume balancing is manual; the tool does not automatically duck music whenever someone speaks.
Can I add a voiceover to a video?
Yes. Record a take with your microphone or upload an existing voice recording. Trim or split it to match the relevant moments in your video and keep music underneath on a separate track. The editor does not generate AI narration.
Can I add more than one audio track to a video?
Yes. Use separate tracks when music, narration or effects should overlap, or append clips on one track to play them in sequence. You can use up to 7 audio tracks and 48 clips, including Original Audio. Clips on the same track cannot overlap.
Can I choose when the added audio starts?
Yes. Move the added clip along the timeline to set its start time. You can also trim the beginning or end, split a longer recording and apply fade-in or fade-out to the selected clip.
What happens when the music is shorter or longer than the video?
New audio starts at the beginning and is trimmed to fit the video. You can choose another passage and move it to another start time. Short clips play once rather than looping automatically. The video length stays unchanged.
Can I add MP3 audio to an MP4 video?
Yes. Upload the MP4, add an MP3 track, adjust its timing and volume, then export a new MP4. WAV, M4A and the other listed audio formats are also supported.
Is it free, with no watermark or sign-up?
Yes. You can edit and download the video without payment, watermark or account. Export the result before closing because this focused workflow does not save the project for later.

Are my video and audio uploaded?
No. Your local media is processed on your device in the browser rather than uploaded to an AudioMuse processing server. Browser memory and codec support can limit larger or less common files.
Can I add music on iPhone or Android?
Use local video and audio files in a compatible mobile browser, then download the finished MP4. A desktop browser is more reliable for larger files or projects with several audio tracks because processing uses device memory.
Can I use music from Spotify or a YouTube link?
No. This tool accepts local files and does not include a music library or streaming import. Upload audio you own or have permission to use before publishing the finished video.
Which video and audio formats are supported?
Upload MP4, MOV, M4V, WebM or MKV video. Audio inputs include MP3, WAV, FLAC, OGG, Opus, M4A, M4B, AAC, AIFF/AIF/AIFC, WMA, AMR and MP4 audio. Each file can be up to 100 MB and 10 minutes.
