Simple control, clear result

Turn up quiet audio and hear the difference

Choose a percentage for the selected clip, then preview the full recording before export. The original file on your device stays unchanged.

Example audioquiet-recording.wav
150%

150% applies 1.5× the signal amplitude. It does not promise the same percentage increase in perceived loudness.

100%

Original level

Keep the source level unchanged.

150%

A useful starting point

Raise a quiet recording by 1.5×, then preview it.

200%

Maximum setting

Apply up to twice the amplitude before peak protection.

Three steps

How to increase audio volume online

Your upload opens directly in Audio Editor with the clip selected and the Volume control highlighted.

  1. 01

    Upload your audio

Choose one recording to open it in the editor. Add or split clips later if you need more control.

  2. 02

    Raise Volume and preview

Start around 125–150%, press Play and check both the quiet sections and the loudest peaks.

  3. 03

    Choose a format and export

Download MP3 for easy sharing, or choose WAV or FLAC to avoid another lossy encoding step.

More control when you need it

Boost the whole recording or only the quiet part

A single percentage works for consistently quiet audio. When only one sentence, take or musical phrase is low, split around it and adjust that section independently.

  1. 1

Move the playhead to the start of the quiet passage and choose Split.

  2. 2

Split again at the end, then select the new middle clip.

  3. 3

Raise only that clip's Volume and listen across both edit points.

Two split points isolate the quiet passage, so the rest of the recording keeps its original level.

Common jobs

Make the recording easier to hear where it matters

Use direct volume control for a clearly defined file or passage—not as a substitute for repairing damaged audio.

Voice notes

Bring up a softly recorded memo

Raise a phone recording, explanation or lecture when the speaker was too far from the microphone.

Start around 125–150%
Podcast & voice-over

Fix one take that sits too low

Split a quiet sentence or retake and balance it against the surrounding spoken audio.

Music & archives

Make a quiet track easier to preview

Increase an old demo or music file while keeping its pitch, speed and arrangement unchanged.

Mixed recordings

Balance clips before export

Give separate clips their own volume settings, then preview how they sit together on the timeline.

Adjust clip by clip

Clean gain has a limit

Make it louder without ignoring clipping

Boosting cannot create headroom that the source never had. It also raises any hiss, hum or room noise already in the recording.

125–150%

A practical first test for quiet audio with some available headroom.

200%

Use after listening

The maximum control setting. Peak protection may reduce the finished gain.

Need steadier levels? Compression can reduce the difference between quiet and loud passages before you choose the final volume.

Volume Booster, Normalizer or Compressor?

They can all make audio easier to hear, but each one solves a different problem.

Audio Volume Booster FAQs

Volume percentages, MP3 export, clipping, partial adjustments and private browser processing.

How do I increase audio volume online?

Upload an audio file to open Audio Editor. Select the clip, raise Volume above 100%, press Play to preview it, then choose an output format and export the louder copy.

How can I make an MP3 louder?

Upload your MP3, adjust the selected clip's Volume and preview the loudest passages. Export as MP3 for convenient sharing, or choose WAV to avoid another lossy encoding step. Your original file is not overwritten.

What do 100%, 150% and 200% volume mean?

100% keeps the original signal level. 150% applies 1.5 times the amplitude, and 200% applies twice the amplitude, or about +6 dB before peak protection. Twice the amplitude does not mean twice the perceived loudness.

Will the audio volume booster cause clipping or distortion?

A clean result depends on the source. Start around 125–150% and listen to the loudest parts. If the recording is already near its peak level, there may be little clean headroom; final peak protection can reduce the requested gain to keep the mix below its ceiling.

Can I make only one part of a recording louder?

Yes. Place the playhead at the beginning and end of the quiet passage and use Split at both points. Select the new middle clip, then raise its Volume without changing the surrounding clips.

Does changing volume affect pitch or speed?

No. The Volume control changes level only. Pitch, playback speed and timing stay unchanged unless you use their separate controls in Audio Editor.

What is the difference between Volume Booster and Audio Normalizer?

Volume Booster applies a percentage you choose to the selected clip. Audio Normalizer analyzes audio and targets a peak or perceived loudness level. Use the booster for direct control and the normalizer for a measured target.

Is my audio private?

Audio editing and export run in your browser, and no account is required. Keep the page open while working and download the finished audio before leaving. A processing engine may download the first time you use the editor.
